Born in Madrid, Raúl initially started his career on the Early Music repertoire. In 2006 he moved to London where he read a Masters Degree in Historical Performance at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama. During his two years stay at London he had the opportunity to perform in several concerts collaborating with conductors such as Christian Curnyn, Rachel Podger and William Carter. Under Carter´s conducting Raúl made his debut singing a main role as Testo in Il combatimento di Tancredi e Clorinda by Monteverdi.
In 2010 he began to study with Raúl Giménez who suggested him to explore the belcanto operatic repertoire. Soon after, his comedy acting abilities lead him to the specialization in Basso-Buffo roles. Since then Raúl has performed the roles of Alidoro La Cenerentola, Don Geronio Il turco in Italia, Filiberto Il signor Bruschino, Martino L´occasione fa il ladro and Don Prudenzio Il viaggio a Reims, all operas by Rossini, and also the title role in Don Pasquale and Dulcamara L ´elisir d´amore, both by Donizetti
During the summer of 2014 at the Rossini Festival in Wilbad, Raúl made his first recording appearance in the serious role of Ermanno in Morlacchi´s opera Tebaldo e Isolina; the opera was recorded by the label Naxos in concert version conducted by Antonino Fogliani.
Raúl´s versatility has also allowed him to develop a parallel career in the concert halls where he had the opportunity to offer recitals in which the Spanish chamber music had a major role. Together with musicians such as William Carter, Jesús Sánchez, Manuel Minguillón and David Mason, Raúl founded the ensemble El Nuevo Serení dedicated to exploring the Spanish repertoire from the XVIII and XIX centuries.
